Acorns Invest investments

When you deposit money into your Acorns Invest account, you're really making a request known as a "buy order." You're kicking off a process where your bank will transfer money to us, and then we'll purchase shares on your behalf for your diversified portfolio.

All buy orders placed before 5pm PT should be invested the next business day, but it can take 2-3 business days for you to see these investments in your account.

You can find more information on how long it takes to invest money here.

Acorns Later and Acorns Early contributions

Your Acorns Later and Early contributions can take a little longer, because they're different types of investment accounts. It can take 5-7 business days for your contributions to your Acorns Later and Early accounts to fully process.

You can find more information about those accounts by viewing our Investing with Acorns FAQ pages.

Acorns Invest, Later, and Early withdrawals

When you make a withdrawal request from your Invest, Later, or Early account, Acorns will sell your shares. It can take 3-6 business days for withdrawals to be fully reflected in your bank account.

If you make a request to sell your shares before 11am PT on a day the stock market is open, the request — also known as a "sell order" — is usually processed the same day. If your request was made after 11am PT on a market day or on a day the market is closed, like the weekend, Acorns will sell your shares the following market day.

Then, we're required by federal regulations to include a mandatory 2-day settlement period before we can start processing your request.

You can find more information about how long it takes to withdraw money from your Acorns investment account here.

Acorns Checking transfers

The processing time for your Acorns Checking account transactions can be a little different. It can take 1-3 business days for transfers both in and out of your Acorns Checking account.

Heads up: If your Acorns Checking account is new, your transactions may take a few extra days. In the first 60 days after opening an Acorns Checking account, your one-time and recurring transfers into your Acorns Checking may take between 3-5 business days to process. After 60 days, it'll take 1-3 business days.

Transfers between your Acorns accounts

Transfers with your Acorns Checking and Emergency fund: Balances withdrawn from your Emergency Fund account are immediately available in your Acorns Checking account.

Transfers with your Acorns Checking account to one of your investment accounts: You can transfer funds from your Acorns Checking account to your Acorns Invest account in just a few taps — investments from your Acorns Checking account take 1-3 business days to process.

Here’s how to make a transfer from your Acorns Checking account to one of your investment accounts.

How to check your transaction progress

You can track the progress of any pending deposit, transfer, or withdrawal transactions in your Acorns accounts by reviewing the Recent Account Activity for each Acorns account. You'll find more information about the different processing times there.

Important tax information

It's important for you to know that there can be tax implications when you make a withdrawal from your investment accounts. Selling an investment could result in either a "gain" (when your investments make you money) or a "loss." You may owe tax when your investments are sold for a gain.
