How does linking my direct deposit through my Payroll Provider work?

In the payroll switch experience, you will have the option to search for either your employer or payroll provider and enter your sign-in credentials. You will be able to digitally connect your Direct Deposit paycheck to Acorns Checking by signing into your employer’s Payroll Provider portal. Your Acorns Checking account and routing number will be shared with Pinwheel for the purpose of connecting your direct deposit paycheck to Acorns.


If your employer allows for different paycheck allocations, you will see the option to designate either your entire paycheck or a certain amount of each paycheck, into your Acorns Checking account.


In order to set up your Direct Deposit, you can use the following steps:

  1. Log in to your Acorns account and tap "Bank"

  2. Tap the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to access your settings

  3. Select "Link with a payroll provider" and tap "Next"

  4. From here, you will enter the payroll switch experience by connecting to your employer/payroll provider to automatically set up your Direct Deposit into Acorns Checking without leaving the app!
