Your portfolio is selected based on your age and the time until you reach retirement age.
- Your age is just how old you are when you signed up for Acorns Later
- And your time until you reach retirement is the number of years between when you signed up and your 67th birthday.
Even though you can start withdrawing money from your IRA account without a penalty at 59 ½, the IRS sees 67 as the full retirement age for people born in 1960 or later.
That’s why we use 67 as the age of retirement. But as time goes on, the full retirement age might change. If it does, we will automatically adjust your investments to reflect those changes. Once you sign up for Acorns Later, we’ll help you build a diversified portfolio fit for your situation. We’ll take care of any changes that need to happen along the way.
