The 1099-MISC form is a tax form that's used to report miscellaneous "other income" you earned last year to the IRS. That usually means payments that come from other sources than a typical employer, like rents, prizes, or awards.

Who receives a 1099-MISC?

If you earned more than $600 in referral bonuses or through Acorns Earn offers that didn’t require you to buy something, you'll receive a 1099-MISC form. 

One important heads up is that even if you received Earn Rewards last year, you may not be taxed on them — some Earn Rewards could be considered a rebate for tax purposes by the IRS. What this means is you may not be issued a 1099-MISC for some or all of the Earn Rewards you receive.

Where is my 1099-MISC?

If you qualify for one, we'll email your 1099-MISC form by January 31, 2024. You can also check for tax forms under Settings
