The 1099-MISC form is a tax form that's used to report miscellaneous "other income" you earned last year to the IRS. That usually means payments that come from other sources than a typical employer, like rents, prizes, or awards.
Who receives a 1099-MISC?
If you earned more than $600 in referral bonuses or through Acorns Earn offers that didn’t require you to buy something, you'll receive a 1099-MISC form.
One important heads up is that even if you received Earn Rewards last year, you may not be taxed on them — some Earn Rewards could be considered a rebate for tax purposes by the IRS. What this means is you may not be issued a 1099-MISC for some or all of the Earn Rewards you receive.
Where is my 1099-MISC?
If you qualify for one, we'll email your 1099-MISC form by January 31, 2024. You can also check for tax forms under Settings.
Here's the full schedule for the different types of tax forms you may receive from Acorns this tax season, following the deadlines set by the IRS.
