Why bank with Acorns?

Banking with Acorns means you'll get your personal checking, investment, and retirement accounts all in one app. We'll help you automate your saving and investing by instantly investing your spare change into a diversified, expert-built portfolio.

  • Real-Time Round-Ups®: Whenever you swipe your Acorns Visa™ debit card, your spare change gets instantly invested in your Acorns Invest portfolio — giving it even more time in the market. You can learn more about Real-Time Round-Ups® here.
  • No hidden fees: No hidden fees, no minimum balance fees, and no overdraft fees.
  • ATM withdrawals: Access to over 55,000 fee-free ATMs within the AllPoint Network, nationwide and around the world,
  • Acorns Visa™ Debit card: Get a heavy metal debit card with a matte green finish and your signature custom-engraved.
  • All-digital banking: Do your banking online, with direct deposit, mobile check deposit and sending, and more.
  • Safe & secure: Your money is FDIC-insured up to $250,000, through Lincoln Savings Bank or nbkc bank, Members FDIC. Plus, you'll have fraud protection and an all-digital card lock. You can learn more about how your money is protected here.
  • Paycheck split: Invest a piece of each paycheck automatically.
  • Early payday: Get paid up to 2 days earlier with direct deposit.

How do Real-Time Round-Ups® work?

Whenever you swipe your Acorns Visa™ debit card, we'll round up your purchase and transfer that spare change from your Acorns Checking account into your Acorns Invest portfolio.

Rather than waiting until your spare change has added up to at least $5 (which is how it works with regular Round-Ups®), you'll just have to wait for the stock market to be open so we can get your money invested.

Getting your spare change invested faster means it has even more time in the market — and the more time your money has in the market, the more opportunity it has to grow.

Real-Time Round-Ups® is only available if you have both an active Acorns Checking account and an active Acorns Invest account. If you'd prefer to review your investments before we invest your spare change, you can choose to set your Real-Time Round-Ups® to "manual."

What are the benefits of a Mighty Oak account?

Mighty Oak accounts are available with Premium subscriptions. With a Mighty Oak Checking and Emergency Fund, you'll have access to all the benefits of an Acorns Checking account, plus you'll get a limited-edition Tungsten metal Mighty Oak Visa™ debit card and you'll have the opportunity to earn interest on your savings.

As of March 8, 2024, Mighty Oak Checking Account earns 3.00% APY (annual percentage yield) and 5.00% APY for the Emergency Fund account. But heads up — as with many bank accounts, these APY rates are variable, which means they could change at our discretion at any time, without prior notice.
