If you have Acorns Checking, you can deposit physical checks right from your Acorns app!
Here's how to deposit a check in your Acorns app:
- Log in to your Acorns app
- Tap "Checking" to navigate to your Acorns Checking account
- Tap "Checks"
- Tapt "Deposit Check" and then follow the prompts. You'll be asked to enter the check amount and to take a picture of both the front and back of the check.
You won't be able to deposit more than 3 checks in one day or exceed the $5000 limit in one day. (See a full list of limits here.)
Additionally, mobile check deposit is not offered on our website, www.acorns.com. Mobile check deposit is only available on the Acorns app.
Helpful Tips
Here are a few things to keep in mind when you're depositing a check:
- The check can't have a future date. It must have a current or past date. .
- The check must be made out to your name. You can't deposit a check made out to someone else.
- When taking an image of the front and back of the check, make sure you're in a well-lit area and put the check against a dark/contrasting background.
- Remember to endorse the check;t write "For mobile deposit only into Acorns" followed by your signature on the back of the check.
Once you submit a mobile check deposit, it can't be canceled. After you have written "For mobile deposit only into Acorns," it's more than likely the check won't be accepted at any other bank.
How long does a mobile check deposit take?
It can take 1-3 business days for a mobile check deposit to process.
Generally, if a check is deposited before 2:00pm Pacific Time (PT), Monday through Friday, the money will be available in your Acorns Checking account the next business day.
If you deposit a check on Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, the money will usually be available in 2 business days.
Why isn't mobile check deposit available for my account?
Mobile check deposits may not be available until your Acorns debit card has been active for 15 days. Here's how to activate your Acorns debit card. After 15 days, you can deposit checks into your Acorns Checking account!
Another reason mobile check deposit may not be available is if you recently updated your linked bank account. You'll need to make sure that your bank account has been verified and that you have successfully made a deposit into either your Acorns Invest or Acorns Checking account.
