How do I fund my Acorns Checking account?

There are 4 different ways to add money to your Acorns Checking account:

Direct deposit 

Recurring deposit 

One-time deposit 

Mobile check deposit

Heads up: If your Acorns Checking account is new, your transactions may take a few extra days. In the first 60 days after opening an Acorns Checking account, your one-time and recurring ACH transfers into your Acorns Checking may take between 3-5 business days to process. After 60 days, it'll take 1-3 business days. You can learn more about how long your transactions take here.

How do I set up direct deposit to my Acorns Checking account?

To set up direct deposit, you can link with your payroll provider directly. Here's how:

1. Log in to your account from your Acorns app or acorns.com
2. Tap or click "Checking"
3. Tap or click the gear icon in the top right corner to access your settings
4. Select "Set up direct deposit" and confirm your selection by tapping on "Set up direct deposit"
5. From here, you'll continue with our partner Pinwheel to connect to your employer/payroll provider and set up your direct deposit to your Acorns Checking account, without having to leave the app.

If your employer/payroll provider doesn't show up on the search list with our partner Pinwheel, there are two other options you have to set up direct deposit. You can learn more about how to set up direct deposit here.

How do I make recurring deposits to my Acorns Checking account?

Here's how to make a recurring deposit to your Acorns Checking account:

1. Log in to your account from your Acorns app or acorns.com
2. Tap or click "Checking"
3. Tap or click "Recurring"
4. Enter the amount and the frequency of the deposit
5. Tap "Turn on"

How do I make a one-time deposit to my Acorns Checking account?

Here's how to make a one-time deposit to your Acorns Checking account:

1. Log in to your account from your Acorns app or acorns.com
2. Tap or click "Checking"
3. Tap the "Transfer In" button
4. Enter the amount of the deposit and the funding source
5. Tap "Review" and confirm that your transfer goes to Acorns Checking
6. Tap "Transfer"

How do I deposit a check to my Acorns Checking account?

Here's how to deposit a check — we recommend you follow these steps from your Acorns app:

1. Log in to your account from your Acorns app
2. Tap "Checking"
3. Tap the "Checks" button located below your "Available balance..."
4. Tap "Deposit check" at the bottom of the screen
5. Then, enter the dollar amount of the check and follow the prompts to deposit your check using your phone's camera.

Heads up: you can only deposit checks that are made out to you.
