Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a good way to help protect your information. Once you set up 2FA, you'll be sent a verification code every time you log in with your email. Using your PIN or Face ID in-app won't activate 2FA.

Here’s how to turn on Two-factor Authentication:

  1. After logging in to your account, tap or click on the profile icon on the left side of the screen

  2. Tap "Settings" or click on "Profile & Settings"

  3. Tap or click on "Personal info"

  4. Under Contact Info, you should notice an "unverified" alert, tap or click on the sign

  5. Confirm your contact Info is correct

  6. You will then be prompted to select the 'Next' button to enter the verification process

  7. Two-Factor Authentication will send a 6-digit code to your mobile device. Once you receive the code, input it into the alert in-app

  8. Two-Factor Authentication verification is now complete! The alert next to your Contact Info should now be "Verified"

If you don't receive the 6-digit code via text message, tap or click 'Resend.' If you don’t receive a code after 3 tries, please contact us.

You can always set up 2FA with a verified email address as well. Please note: we only require one piece of verified contact info to set up 2FA.

Here's how to update your email address information linked to Two-Factor Authentication in your Acorns app:

  1. After logging in to your account, tap the profile icon in the top corner of the screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap"Personal Info"
  4. You'll see your email address under "Contact Info"

  5. Select the "Unverified" alert next to your email and confirm it's correct

  6. You will then be prompted to select the "Next" button to enter the verification process

  7. 2FA will send a 6-digit code to your email address. Once you receive the code, input it into the alert in-app

  8. Two-Factor Authentication verification is now complete for email! The alert next to contact info should now be "Verified"
