Acorns customers have the ability to select a portfolio theme and risk level. We also provide account features that offer the opportunity to allocate a portion of your portfolio to Custom Portfolio and/or add a Bitcoin-Linked ETF.
Acorns will recommend one of our managed portfolios based on your investor profile. You will have access to one of nine Acorns investment portfolios including, 5 Core and 4 ESG portfolios managed by Acorns. Although you cannot choose the investments in our managed portfolios, you have the ability to select a more/less aggressive portfolio than our recommendation. (For more information, click here.
Acorns’ Custom Portfolio is a feature that lets you personally manage a portion of your portfolio within your Acorns account. Depending on your most recent investor profile, you will be able to allocate up to 50% of the value of your Invest account to your Custom Portfolio. You can choose to invest in approximately 100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies with market capitalization greater than $75 billion. The remainder of your Invest account will continue to be invested in the ETF portfolios managed by Acorns, known as your Base Portfolio. Your Custom Portfolio is a non-discretionary investment advisory account (managed by you); whereas, your Base Portfolio is a discretionary investment advisory account (managed by Acorns)
There is also an option to allocate up to 5% of your Acorns Invest portfolio toward a Bitcoin-Linked ETF. The ProShares Bitcoin Strategy (BITO) invests in Bitcoin futures and provides exposure to Bitcoin without owning the underlying cryptocurrency.
(Reminder: Investment choices in the Acorns Custom Portfolio are currently limited to approximately 100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies with market capitalization greater than $75 billion. Acorns does not provide access to invest directly in Bitcoin. Exposure is provided through the ETF, BITO, which invests in Bitcoin futures. Investment percentages for Custom Portfolio and the bitcoin-linked ETF are determined based on the results of your most recent investor profile. There may be tax implications associated with buying and selling holdings in your portfolio. Please consult a tax advisor with questions regarding your personal tax treatment prior to making any investment decisions. Acorns does not provide tax or legal advice.)
