Where does the money for Round-Ups® come from?

Round-Ups® are transferred from the primary checking account that you link to Acorns. Even if you link multiple credit or debit cards, all of your Round-Ups® will still come from only the linked primary checking account. This checking account is also the account that funds are sent back to when a withdrawal is requested. For example, if you spend $3.50 using your credit card then that $0.50 will be transferred from your primary checking account into your Acorns Invest account when the Round-Ups® add up to at least $5.

To see the account you have linked by following the below steps:

For Mobile:

  1. After logging in to your account, tap the menu (avatar) in the upper left corner of the screen
  2. Tap 'Settings'
  3. Tap 'Linked Accounts'
  4. It will show "Primary checking" next to the account

For Web:

  1. After logging in to your account, click on the menu (avatar) in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Click on 'Profile & Settings'
  3. Click on 'Linked Accounts'
  4. It will show "Primary checking" next to the account

Please note that if you do not maintain enough funds in your primary checking account to sufficiently cover your Round-Ups® investments, you could incur overdraft fees with your financial institution.
