When you make a transaction that's an even dollar amount, you can choose how much you want to invest in your Acorns Invest account — anywhere from $0 to $1.

Say you make a purchase that costs $4.00 exactly. If your Whole Dollar Round-Ups® is set to $0.50, you’d see a Round-Up® of $0.50 for that transaction.

All these boosted Round-Ups® can really add up — Acorns customers have invested an average of $627 in spare change. Check out your Potential screen in your Acorns app to see how your investments could add up over time.

Here's how to set your Whole Dollar Round-Ups®:

From your Acorns app:

  1. Log in to your Acorns account
  2. From the home screen, tap "Invest"
  3. Tap "Round-Ups® Settings"
  4. Under "Whole Dollar Round-Ups®", slide the bar to your preferred whole dollar Round-Up amount
  5. Tap "Save"

From acorns.com:

  1. Log in to your Acorns account
  2. Click "Invest"
  3. Click "Round-Ups® Settings"
  4. Under "Whole Dollar Round-Ups®", slide the bar to your preferred whole dollar Round-Up amount

Important information about your linked accounts

Round-Ups® can be a great way to invest your spare change in the background of life, but it's important to make sure you have enough money in your linked accounts to cover your investing.

If you don't keep enough money in your primary checking account, you could be charged overdraft fees by your bank.

If this is something you're concerned about, you could consider turning off automatic Round-Ups® and reviewing them manually instead. Here's more information on the difference between automatic and manual Round-Ups®.
