Can I link a savings account as my Primary Checking account?

While it is possible to fund your account with a savings account, Acorns generally recommends the use of a checking account.

Federal regulation limits the withdrawals from a savings account to six transactions per month. Utilizing the automatic Round-Ups® feature can reach this limit and incur a service charge from your bank. If you decide to use a savings account as your funding source (primary checking account), please note Acorns is not liable for any fees charged by your bank.
You may link the account of your choosing by following the steps below.

For Mobile:

  1. After logging in to your account, tap the menu (avatar) in the upper left corner of the screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Linked Accounts"
  4. Tap "Change Primary Checking" at the bottom of the screen
  5. You then have 2 options:
    1. Type the name of your bank in the search bar; OR
    2. Type "123" in the search bar and then tap 'Don't see your bank' at the bottom of the screen. You will then need to enter your Routing Number and Account Number in the fields and tap 'Link Account' at the bottom of the screen.
