Thank you for growing with us! While it is possible to fund your account with a savings account, we generally recommend using a checking account.
Federal regulation limits the withdrawals from a savings account to six transactions per month. If you reach this limit with automatic transfers, like Round-Ups® or a Recurring Investment, you could incur a service charge from your bank.
Acorns isn't liable for any fees charged by your bank if you decide to use a savings account as your primary checking account.
Here's how to link an account as your primary checking account:
From your Acorns app:
- Log into your account
- Tap the profile icon in the upper left corner of the screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap "Linked Accounts"
- Tap "Change Primary Checking" at the bottom of the screen
-
You then have 2 options:
- Type the name of your bank in the search bar, or
- Tap “Add your bank manually.” Then enter your Routing Number and Account Number in the fields and tap "Link Account" at the bottom of the screen.
From acorns.com:

When you update your linked account, we may request documentation to verify your identity. If this is required, we’ll send you an email with instructions.
