What happens to Early matches when a kid reaches the age of transfer?

The age of transfer refers to the age that the custodian (that's you!) must transfer the money in the Acorns Early custodial account to the beneficiary (the kid). This age varies by state and is set once you create an Acorns Early custodial account. The state is dependent upon which state the custodian resides in, not the beneficiary. You can view your beneficiary's age of transfer in the app at any time.

Once the kid has reached the age of transfer, all Early Matches and contributions can be withdrawn, regardless of the holding period.

To gain access to the money, including matches, in the Acorns Early custodial account, the kid will need to set up an Acorns Invest account. For more information on how to do this, reach out to Support.
