If you decide to not consent, you will still be able to create an Acorns account. We are simply using the Social Security Administration’s eCBSV service as one of the tools we use to help prevent fraud.
To clarify, by consenting, the information received is used to match existing information on file with the Social Security Administration. The eCBSV service is primarily used to prevent fraud since it allows permitted entities like Acorns to verify if an individual’s SSN, name, and date of birth combination matches existing Social Security records.
