We offer our sincerest condolences for your loss.

In order to release funds from the deceased customer's account, please provide the below documents:

  1. A copy of the death certificate and any other legal documents (i.e. affidavit of domicile, estate affidavit), if available, to verify the deceased customer

  2. Written instructions from the deceased customer's Executor/Personal Representative/Administrator on what to do with the deceased customer's Acorns account(s)

If you don’t have any legal documents other than a copy of the death certificate, we can issue a check made payable to the estate of the deceased.

Also, if possible, please include the following information to help us locate the account:

  • The email address associated with the account

  • The phone number associated with the account

Please reach out to us when you're ready and we'll help you with everything.
